Juvenile Justice Association of Michigan Conference

Team members from Growth Works’ Case Management Organization, attended the mid-winter conference for the Juvenile Justice Association of Michigan (JJAM) in Midland Michigan. This session focused on working with traumatized youth, suicide prevention and secondary trauma from presenters from the area including Dr. James Henry. Thank you to our incredible team who is constantly working to provide support and resources that will benefit the youth in our care.

The Juvenile Justice Association of Michigan was formed in 1973 by the County Juvenile Officer’s Association and the Family Court Workers Association. JJAM is actively working to provide representation for all juvenile justice personnel, promoting and maintaining standards of efficiency within the Michigan Family Justice System and encouraging innovative legislation, resolutions and other desirable efforts representing the common interest of children and their families in the State of Michigan.

Mother’s Pantry

Growth Works‘ staff and board members visited Mother’s Pantry in Inkster to help them prepare to reopen their doors to the public! The team was onsite to help build and stock their shelves; great work team!

Pantry is Inkster’s only client choice food pantry. A “client choice” food pantry is a model of emergency food distribution that enables clients to select their own food, much like a grocery store. Unlike most pantries, which provide clients with fixed boxes of food with no ability to select the items included, client choice pantries allow clients the ability to choose from a wide variety of foods. This effectively helps clients to meet their personal dietary needs. To learn more about Mother’s Pantry, visit their website.

Inkster Community Resource Fair

The Growth Works Peer Recovery Coaching Team shared information and resources at the Inkster Community Resource Fair. The Peer Recovery Coaches are regularly out in the community sharing their personal stories of growth and dedication to their recovery, setting an example to individuals and families who need to hear this message of hope. Thank you for your service to the community and to Growth Works.

Mental Health and Wellness Fair

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Mental Health and Wellness Fair on April 29th in Kellogg Park was a huge success! This year was the second time bringing this event to the community and it featured more than 70 health and wellness organizations available for our community. The raffles, family fun zone and the horses offered something unique to everyone who came out to enjoy the event.

The Growth Works team was there to show our support for the community and offered resources to spotlight youth assistance services, training and consulting programs, and our suicide prevention coalition. Thank you to all of the amazing community members who made this event possible.
